The Bishop’s Castle 800 Club is a support group for people in Bishop’s Castle, Clun, and the surrounding area who are carers for people living with dementia. The aim of the group is to share and discuss practical tips and advice for caring for someone with dementia, from legal practicalities such as Power of Attorney and wills, to assistive technology, coping techniques, and everything in between. They also invite guests from appropriate organisations to deliver talks and advice. The Club enjoys a monthly coffee morning offering friendship, advice, and support, at the Six Bells, usually on the first Monday of the month, from 10.30am. (NB: please enter via courtyard as the front doors will still be shut). They also run an email group for announcements from the organisers and sharing notes and resources from the meetings, and in addition there is a Facebook group for members to chat, share information, and generally discuss whatever they wish. Drop-in mornings for people living with dementia and their carers also take place at Bishop’s Castle Library, on the third Monday of each month, from 11.30am to 1pm, offering a safe quiet space where you can browse books and have a chat, with or without your carer, with members of the 800 Club in attendance for support.
