The Shrewsbury Growing Old Disgracefully (g.o.d.) Group meets at Radbrook Community Centre on the second Wednesday of each month, from 1.30pm until approximately 4.30pm. They don’t behave disgracefully, but they do refuse to ‘grow old gracefully’ as their mothers were expected to do. The Shrewsbury Group is a large group and for various reasons they restrict their numbers to a maximum of 45, but currently the Group has a few places free. The main aim of the national g.o.d. network is to encourage older women to develop their own individuality in an atmosphere of trust, support and friendship with one another. They aim particularly to encourage women to find their voices, and to explore ways of breaking out of the stereotypes by which they may feel bound. You’re never to young or too old to start growing old disgracefully!
