Soldiers of Shropshire Museum (formerly the Shropshire Regimental Museum) is housed within Shrewsbury Castle, and covers over 200 years of British Army evolution. The Museum displays the significant collections of the Shropshire regiments between 1755 and today, and explains the evolution of the British Army through the formation of the Light Infantry and current local reserve regiments; E company, 8 Rifles, as well as the D Squadron (Shropshire Yeomanry) Royal Yeomanry. These collections include campaign and gallantry medals and other awards, firearms and swords, uniforms, headgear, equipment and regalia from the 18th century to the present day, and the Lord-Lieutenants of Shropshire’s Collection, as well as displays on the Castle itself.
