Market Drayton Art Club is a club for local amateur artists. The club meets at 9am to 1pm every Monday (except Bank Holidays). Membership of the club is limited to 60 people, and the annual subscription is £15, with a weekly subscription of £1, which covers room hire, heating, insurance and refreshment costs. The club is organised by a committee, which is elected annually, at the Annual General Meeting in April. The club runs on a mutual help basis with members carrying out their own work. Membership is not limited by ability and many members are beginners or have not done any art for several years. Each month a member with a particular skill leads a small workshop, for example, line and wash, hot wax work, painting with acrylics, portraits, working with pastels, drawing with coloured pencils, watercolours. Some one day workshops are organised that are led by a visiting professional artist, and these involve payment of a separate fee. Anyone interested in finding out more about the club may visit on a Monday morning or come along as the guest of a member for one morning and paint or draw (cost £1).
