Shropshire European Organisation CIC was originally set up as the Polish Centre Shrewsbury CIC to help and support the Polish community with a wide range of services, but also to integrate and involve them into the local community. Their aim is to offer Polish people a safe place where they can get basic help / signposting, and meet other people (not only Polish) where they won’t be afraid of the language barrier, to share stories about their lives, culture, food, and traditions as a Polish community. They believe that the Shropshire European Organisation CIC can act as a bridge between the different cultures living within the county, eg Belarusians, Italians, Lithuanians, Russians, Slovakians, Spaniards, and many more, through events and meetings. Working together with a range of organisations and agencies, such as Shropshire Council, the NHS, West Mercia Police, the Prince’s Trust, Severnside Housing, schools, business advisers and others, the Organisation will be arranging coffee mornings, meetings, talks, and events, plus training, courses, and workshops for children and adults that are open to everybody, not only Polish people, to build community relations. The Shropshire European Organisation are also working with Midlands Partnership NHS (MPFT) to deliver bespoke digital skills training for Eastern European Mental Health Service users with SMI living in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. The Digital Skills Programme is designed to provide one-to-one digital support and digital drop-Ins across both counties to enable digitally excluded people access to help with digital technology in their local area. The programme offers access to two different types of courses so the learner can decide which one suits their digital requirements.
