The Pontesbury Parish Paths Partnership Group (P3 group) is a volunteer body who helps to maintain and renovate the public footpath and bridleway network in the parish. The parish extends from the lush farmland of the Rea Valley in the west and north to the Shropshire Hills AONB in the south. Earls Hill rises to 320 metres and is a viewpoint with a 360 degree panorama stretching from the Shropshire Plain to the north, the Stretton Hills and the Stiperstones to the east and south round to the mountains of mid Wales, including the Berwyns and Cadair Idris, in the west. The Nature Reserve, managed by Shropshire Wildlife Trust, includes the summit and the deep valley (Happy Valley) and twists below the eastern flank of the hill.
