Taking part is an independent service for people with health and social care needs in Shropshire including Telford and Wrekin. Taking Part support people through lots of different creative ways and offer lots of services. They aim to support, encourage and listen to young people so that they can develop the confidence to take a central part in their transition planning. The services they offer are Advocacy and Support, Advice and Information, Social Opportunities, and Easy Read Information for Children and Young People and their families. They can create easy read materials on request too. They will signpost parents and carers to find accurate, up-to-date information to help them support their young person to achieve their hopes, wishes and dreams. They offer support to children and young people to ensure that their voice is heard and that they can take part in decision making about their own future. They can offer advice to young people and their families about personalisation, including personal budgets and support planning, as well as information about financial support, health, social care, and more. They have a project called Moving and Grooving, which is part of the ‘All In’ Short Breaks activities, Leisure Centre Staff support taking part to deliver a wide range of activities to children with additional needs.
