Crisis Counselling for Alleged Shoplifters (CCAS) provides counselling and other general advice to persons accused of alleged shoplifting offences, for the purpose of giving such moral support and general assistance as may be deemed necessary or appropriate. Where in any particular case expert, professional assistance is required; cases are referred to a solicitor, social worker or other duly qualified person as appropriate. CCAS have a particular concern for the problems of children who may be accused of alleged shoplifting offences. They liaise with and lobby Members of Parliament, Local Authorities and other associations or organisations to discuss and generally pursue relevant aspects of social, political or legal policy or practice and procedure which may be required. CCAS is a voluntary organisation and in no way does it condone deliberate stealing. Counselling is available: Monday to Friday, from 9.30am to 5pm, and in cases of emergency on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10am to 4pm. For more information, please contact CCAS by telephone using the details provided.
