Situated in the town centre, St. Winefride’s School has often been referred to as Shrewsbury’s ‘Little Gem’. Founded in 1868 by the Sisters of Mercy, it has been furnishing children with precious opportunities, experiences and memories for over 150 years. Almost every week in school there is a reason to celebrate pupils’ success, be it in sports, arts or academically. Sporting opportunities have won the school gold at national level and its young musicians achieve passes at Grade 5 Level. Our Kindergarten caters for 3- and 4-year-olds and offers a secure and caring foundation for developing confidence, resilience, tolerance and kindness. It provides a sound base for the children to build upon, as they transition into the school environment. Local offer: St. Winefride’s School values all pupils and celebrates diversity of experience, interest and achievement. All pupils need to experience praise, recognition and success, and pupils with SEND have equal entitlement to this.
