63 (Bridgnorth) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets is part of a national, voluntary, uniformed youth organisation for young people aged from 12 (and in year 8) to 20.The RAF Air Cadets offer a range of activities and opportunities designed to help young people develop key life skills. Members have the chance to participate in various challenges, supported by a structured training programme and close ties with the Royal Air Force and other partners. The focus is on building skills such as confidence, communication, physical and mental wellbeing, teamwork, and leadership.Opportunities within the RAF Air Cadets include:Air: Cadets can experience flying and gliding, air experience flights in RAF fixed-wing and rotary aircraft, drone operations, and pilot training, with the potential to fly solo.Space: There are opportunities to learn about satellite communications, rocketry, and air and space technology, with a focus on the Royal Air Force and defence industry capabilities.Cyber: Cadets interested in computer and networking skills, programming, cyber security, and cyber warfare can explore these areas through specialist training.Skills: Training is available in sports, music, bands, first aid, radio communications, drill and ceremonial activities, and road marching. The RAF Air Cadets is also a leading provider of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.Adventure Training: Cadets can participate in activities such as rock climbing, abseiling, high-level hill walking, mountain biking, canoeing, high rope work, and sailing at training centres across the UK.Military: Opportunities include visits to specialist UK armed forces units, target shooting, parachuting, annual camps at military bases, fieldcraft, survival skills, and international travel through the International Air Cadet Exchange programme.Further Education: Cadets can pursue BTEC diplomas in teamwork and personal development, leadership, music, and ILM qualifications in leadership and management.The RAF Air Cadets is committed to providing a safe environment for all participants, with a focus on health and safety, safeguarding, and inclusivity.
