Set in a wonderful part of rural Shropshire, yet only 5 miles from Shrewsbury Longden Primary School and Nursery is small and friendly school set in three acres of ground include a sports field, landscaped playing field, playground, Grace’s garden – our quiet space, class cultivation beds, mini allotment, wild area for climbing trees and making dens, outdoor classroom with pond and dipping platform. We have a Breakfast Club available from 7.45am-8.30am daily and after school clubs available from 3pm – 6pm run from our nursery building. The Nursery at Longden offers a caring place for children to start on their learning adventure in a nurturing environment. The nursery includes plenty of outdoor space, a kitchen garden, mud kitchen, music, PE and daily planned adult led activities for literacy, numeracy and creativity, as well as access to the whole school grounds, wild area, hall and dining room. The Nursery is based in a modern, well equipped building. Our Nursery works closely with our Reception Class and our Deputy Headteacher, who is the Early Years Foundation Stage Leader. This ensures that nursery children feel prepared, welcomed and already part of our school when it is time to move into main school at the end of their time in Nursery. We have daily phonics and strong links with the school. We have a highly qualified team, all level 3 and above, we offer Montessori qualified staff and believe empowering a child to realise their full potential to become unique independent learners. Ofsted say ‘Inspirational teaching that provides exciting and interesting activities that meet the needs of all children” The nursery sessions are: morning session starts at 8:45am and ends at 11:50am. There is an option to pay for the lunch hour. The afternoon session runs from 11:50am and ends at 2:50pm. We accept 24U, 15 & 30 hours free 3 & 4 year old nursery funding . Hot lunches, prepared on site in the school kitchen, are available and cost £2.50 for nursery pupils. After School Care sessions are available to all pupils from 3-6pm, charged at £4.50 per hour.
