Shropshire has a wide range of specialist groups dedicated to the study and conservation of the county’s wildlife. Many run regular events throughout the year and all welcome enquiries from people interested in joining the group, or with records of local sightings. Survey work offers a great opportunity to find out about your local wildlife and to hone your identification skills. It’s also hugely important to understanding the health of local species populations. It’s an enormous task – nothing short of mapping the plants and animals that live in Shropshire, so those who carry it out will always welcome more help. If you would like to get involved, please contact the relevant group, or for details of volunteering opportunities with Shropshire Wildlife Trust, please follow the link provided.
