Bucknell Pre School is part of St Mary’s Primary School in the small village of Bucknell. The Pre-School has its own dedicated room. There is also an enclosed outdoor area fitted with artificial turf where the children enjoy free-flow play.Pre-School also makes good use of the school field for running and the playgrounds for wheeled toys, for climbing and balancing equipment, to practise ball skills and for playing games. On Wednesday afternoons there is forest school in the school woodland area. Toys, equipment and activities are provided to promote learning across the 7 areas of the EYFS. There are 2 qualified members of staff. KS1 classroom assistants also support Pre-School at times. Most of the children go onto St Mary’s School and transitions are very strong. The children occasionally join in with activities with the reception classroom and they play with Key Stage 1 children at break time. The older children go into reception once a week for Phonics so they are familiar with the teacher and the classroom and are well-prepared for school. We offer 24U funding, 3 & 4 year old universal funding and 15 hours and the extended 30 hours free entitlement term.Local offer: Bucknell Pre School welcomes all children from ages 2 to 4 years. The preschool room is all on one level and the outside area is also accessible. Each child has a key worker to get to know the child, build a relationship with them and help them settle. Observations are made of each child so that resources and activities can be tailored to each child’s interests and development. There is a big range of toys for the different ages and abilities of children and most of these the children can access themselves.Parents contribute information about their children, about their interests, any health consideration or allergies when they join the setting. Parents are informed about their child’s activities both verbally and also by being given a compilation of the observations made of their child and also by more formal reports. The Pre School has good links with both the school and the school staff. If Pre School staff need advice, they can talk to the staff at school or contract the local authority.£4.00 per hour, £25.00 per day.
