The British Burn Association, formed in 1968, is a national non-profit making organisation with charitable status. The Association actively encourages and promotes burn education and prevention, and administers the annual National Burns Awareness Day each October. Membership is available to anyone who is interested in playing a part in attempting to reduce the incidence and effect of burn injuries, as well as physicians, surgeons, scientists, nurses, and other medical services and non-medical workers, actively engaged in some aspect of the care of the burned patient.
