Mount Pleasant Primary School and Nursery is a wonderful place to work and learn. It’s a place where children thrive. We are lucky to have excellent facilities which we make the most of, especially our outdoor provision and Forest School area, which is the envy of many other local schools! Visitors find a happy and purposeful learning environment where children’s level of engagement in their leaning is high, as are our expectations of them. We have a fantastic team of staff who are dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for our pupils in all areas – not just in academic performance. We strive to develop our pupils’ knowledge and skills across the curriculum and to support them to become resilient, thoughtful, creative and independent – preparing them for life. We are constantly seeking to develop and improve, to ensure that we are delivering the best possible opportunities for our pupils. We work closely with pupils, parents, governors and colleagues in the other two schools in our Multi-Academy Trust to ensure that we keep this at the forefront of everything we do. Mount Pleasant Primary School is part of Severn Bridges Multi-Academy Trust, which is made up of three primary schools in Shrewsbury, all dedicated to providing the highest possible academic opportunities, and developing the all round skills of our children. Our Nursery setting is located alongside the school in a large classroom with a fantastic large outdoor area. Our children arrive eager to begin exploring and investigating the wide range of activities available to them and are very much encouraged to take an active role in what they are learning as well as how they are learning it. In order to achieve this, we make the learning environment one that is child-centred, where the children can easily access any resources and activities independently. Whilst they spend a large part of their time actively involved in self-chosen activities, the children also take part and learn in small group activities. Each day, our children are offered opportunities to explore, investigate and play both in our indoor and outdoor learning environments. All our explorations, whether they are indoors or outdoors, are very practical often messy and always lots of fun! We love to sign rhymes and songs every day and we also enjoy a daily healthy snack of fruit or vegetables and milk. In Nursery and Reception our curriculum follows guidance from the Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. It underpins learning by supporting and promoting each child’s development. Mount Pleasant Primary School offers a Breakfast Club which operates from 7.55am until 8.50am and a Twilight Fun Club runs from 3.00pm until 5.30pm, every week day when school is open to pupils. The clubs are open to any children who attend our school. After Breakfast Club, the children are dropped off each morning to their class by the staff and they are collected from class at 3.00pm for Twilight Fun Club.
