Unicorn Nursery Maesbury is based in a former Primary School. Our setting follows the curiosity approach, welcoming children from 9 months up to school age (or 8 for our holiday clubs) following EYFS and family routines. There is lots of open outdoor spaces and fresh homecooked meals. Our aim is to provide a caring, safe, environment with a strong educational focus giving your child a great start in life.We have recently embarked on the curiosity approach which has has been an incredible journey on our staff development and the making of our beautiful nursery. As a nursery we never stand still and always want to strive for better. We have trained a practitioner to become a level 5 forest school lead and have embraced fully outside learning.We have started up our forest school holiday club which has been a big hit. This summer we have completed our allotment area and we will be doing a food bank of our vegetable’s we have grown for our families and the local community. Our staff have been trained by Anna Ephgrave in the moment planning and our staff and children have embarked on a completely new way of learning, being in tune with the children and watching that awe and wonder. It’s been a magical experience and we continue to learn and be the best we can be. Local offer for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities: We have 2 qualified SEN practitioners, one in the pre school room and one in our baby room to ensure the children are being observed at all times and the transition is fluid through the nursery. We work closely with multi agencies and able to recognise early signs to able to get the help that’s needed or funding for 1-1 quickly. We have 1-1’s who work closely with our children with SEN needs. We have a small sensory room with lights, a calming area, books and sensory toys. We have a drama teacher who also specialist in sensory lessons and offers this to our SEN children on a one-one where she also sings songs and uses sign language.
