Replacement medals can only be obtained from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) if the original was stolen or destroyed in a house fire or flood. The medal must have been awarded for service after World War 1, and you wil need to show proof by providing a copy of either: a police crime report, or a successful insurance claim listing the individual items. There is one medal office which covers all three Services, and a fee is payable for the replacement medal, but you can usually get a replacement veterans badge for free.
