Founded in 2011 by artist Sam Pooley, Compost Kids began life in The Market Hall. Rooted in art history and fuelled by sustainability, curiosity and a healthy disregard for colouring inside the lines, classes explored everything from Gaudí to Hundertwasser, Picasso to Banksy, and Vivienne Westwood to Noguchi.Now, Swan Hill Studios is bringing Compost Kids back for a summer-long programme in partnership with The Shrewsbury Wellbeing Festival, because they believe creativity is key to feeling good.OPEN STUDIO – OPEN TO ALL AGESTo kick things off, they are hosting two FREE open days on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 July –Drop in 10-3pm, Suitable for all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult.SUMMER CLUB – AGES 7-11Wednesday and Thursday twice daily sessions from 30 July to the 18 August. Morning sessions are 10-12 and afternoon sessions are 1-3. There is also an option to book both sessions for a full day (packed lunch required).All sessions will be run by our amazing coordinator Marni Wood, she has 5 years experience working in primary and secondary schools as a TA doing class, group interventions and 1-1’s.
