The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and due to other conditions such as Alopecia. The charity, which is based in Hereford, also funds research projects focused on finding kinder and more effective treatments for childhood cancers. The Little Princess Trust is only able to continue its free wig provision service for people up to the age of 24 thanks to the kind support it receives from the public. Many people donate their hair to the charity and get their ‘big cut’ sponsored by friends and family to ensure the charity can turn the hair into a wig and also pay for the styling and fitting of the wig. The charity works with experienced hair stylists across the country who can fit a wig to the individual child’s needs to give the most realistic look and feel, which can help boost their confidence and identity at a very tough time in their life.
