The InDependent Diabetes Trust (IDDT) offers help, support and information to people with diabetes and their families. The Trust provides free quarterly newsletters and information packs for people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and for parents of children and young people with diabetes. Free leaflets on the many aspects of diabetes are also available. In addition to their booklets, ‘Understanding Your Diabetes’ and the ‘Hospital Passport’ to help people with diabetes when they go into hospital, IDDT has introduced a 20-page booklet, ‘Diabetes – Everyday Eating’ which contains 28 days of menus to help people with diabetes to know what they can eat, not just what they can’t eat. As part of ‘Insulin for Life’, a humanitarian and organisation, the Trust collects unwanted, in-date insulin and sends it to hospitals in developing countries, where insulin is often unaffordable.
